1. Hayravank – Mardakhavnyats Monastery
Meeting with legends and miracles. The Hayravank Monastery, known as Mardakhavnyats, will surprise you not only with its architecture, but also with the beautiful legend about the transformation of people into pigeons, who were able to escape from the invasion of Tamerlane thanks to the prayer of the priest Hovhan.
2. Makenis – Holy Place
Like many other Armenian monasteries, Makeniats is also an ancient monastic complex located south of Lake Sevan, on the outskirts of the village of Makenis. Its history goes back centuries, and the first mentions date back to the 7th century. This monastery served not only as a religious center, but also as an important educational institution. In the early Middle Ages, many prominent figures of Armenia studied and taught here, who made significant contributions to the spiritual and social life of the country, where history merges with nature. The name of the monastery is associated with sheep, and its traditions and legends are still alive in the hearts of the Armenian people.
