Arthur is not only the outstanding winemaker of the highest mountain winery in Armenia, but also the embodiment of positivity in the Armenian wine industry. You will be treated to a unique tasting of more than six fine wines and a real home-cooked lunch. During our trip we will also visit a fortress located on the highest peak of Armenia.
Today’s excursion will introduce us to the Aragatsotn region, located at the foot of the majestic Mount Aragats – the highest peak in Armenia.
Our first stop is the Saghmosavank Monastery, which means “Monastery of Psalms” in Armenian, located on the edge of the Kasakh River gorge and known for its breathtaking views. The monastery got its name thanks to a collection of psalms written here within its walls.
After enjoying the scenery, we will go to the Alphabet Alley, in honor of the letters of the Armenian script, created in 2005 to commemorate the 1600th anniversary of the alphabet. This is a special place where each letter is represented in the form of a sculptural monument, which symbolizes the immortal heritage of Armenian literacy and culture. There we will see a majestic cross made up of more than 1,700 small crosses.
Then our path will take us up the mountain to the Amberd fortress, rising at an altitude of 2300 meters above sea level. This is a historical place where history merges with the skies and centuries-old stories are etched in stone. We will end our journey with a gourmet lunch and an exciting wine tasting with the master winemaker himself.
